In 1911, Hoke County was created from Cumberland and Robeson Counties and covered with pine forests.

One of the first industries in Raeford County was distillation of turpentine from pine needles. Milling and farming operations soon expanded further; as did its first high school, Raeford Institute.

Membership

Members are both individuals and businesses that support the mission of a chamber, helping shape policy at local, state, and federal levels while also promoting tourism events that create positive associations in their local community. From large corporations to mom-and-pop shops – these dedicated people form the backbone of thousands of chambers throughout America.

Raeford is situated along the northeast bank of Rockfish Creek, an east-flowing tributary of Cape Fear River that flows northeast into Toneys Creek in Lumber River-Pee Dee River-Waccamaw Watershed. U.S. Highway 401 connects Raeford’s north and west sides with Fayetteville 22 miles (35 km) east, and Laurinburg 20 miles (30 km).

Will Wright moved to Hoke County in 1997 and quickly took an active interest in its community. A longtime real estate professional, Will owns W.J. Wright Realty Company on Oakwood Avenue in downtown Raeford and has an established career. As well as being actively involved with Bethel Presbyterian Church and Kiwanis as well as Fall Festival Board he enjoys Raeford’s small-town charm while having a strong desire to see it thrive and prosper along with Brandi and their two children living nearby Old Town neighborhood in Old Town where Brandi lives along with Brandi and her daughter while her partner Brandi live as part of this historic neighborhood where family life flourishes and thrives together with Brandi and their daughter and son living nearby Old Town together with Brandi, daughter Brandi and son Brandi and her daughter Brandi as well.

Events

The Chamber hosts various events and activities designed to bring members together and advance their businesses. These events provide members with opportunities to network with potential clients, partners, suppliers as well as raise non-dues revenue – they can take place virtually or physically – some events may charge a fee while others are free for members.

Golf Tournaments

Golf tournaments can be an effective way of building relationships and expanding business connections. Events usually feature a Captain’s Choice format with sponsorship opportunities, lunch, and door prizes as part of this annual Chamber event. Additionally, an Annual Gala celebration honoring volunteers as well as outlining past accomplishments highlights the Chamber’s success story over time.

Annual Breakfast with Legislators

Each year, this annual breakfast provides Chamber members an opportunity to engage with legislators and discuss local business-related issues. There will also be a question-and-answer portion, where attendees may pose any queries they feel necessary and raise important topics they believe deserve attention.

The Chamber hosts its signature Business Expo each March. Attracting over 70 area businesses, this networking opportunity showcases over 70 area businesses while also offering opportunities for information distribution, employment opportunities and giveaways. While members can attend for free, non-members are invited to participate with an additional fee required.

Raeford Hoke Chamber of Commerce provides a business directory to local businesses. Members can list their businesses for free. Their website features links to state, county and town/city chamber of commerce websites as well as providing information on nearby parks, schools and events.

Kurt Posey moved from Florida eleven years ago, opening Sun Path Products. Since then, his family and himself have lived in downtown Raeford where they have become highly involved with both the Chamber of Commerce and Fall Festival Board; additionally they belong to Kiwanis and volunteer at Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies each year.

Next month, the chamber of commerce is hosting a Job Expo to facilitate job searches with local businesses and government agencies. Due to pandemic conditions, this event had to be postponed but will now take place from 10 am to 2 pm at the county parking lot next to the courthouse. Employers and agencies are welcome to set up booths offering employment opportunities or offering more information for free; non-chamber members can pay $25 fee to set up booths.
